They may be little, they may be small, but it sure doesn’t measure the size of their heart …or fight.

They’ve made history this past weekend in Corpus Christi and now they’re headed back to Cabaniss Field for another chance at doing the same. The San Benito Lady ’Hounds will be taking on the San Antonio O’Connor Lady Panthers for their shot at the state softball tournament. The Lady ’Hounds’ sweep over San Antonio Southwest this weekend earned them their spot in Valley history as the only team to ever make it past the Sweet 16 and into the Elite 8. As they look toward the state tournament the Lady ’Hounds have their biggest challenge ahead of them in the Lady Panthers.

O’Connor swept the Edinburg Lady Bobcats this past weekend and now boast a record of (31-4). O’Connor is ranked 10th in State right behind the Lady ’Hounds (34-3) who are currently ranked ninth.

Game one is set for Friday at 7:30 p.m. once again at Cabaniss Field. Game two will also be played at Cabaniss Field Saturday as game time is set for 5 p.m. If a game three is necessary it will be played 30 minutes after game two.
