Hundreds attend Youth League Opening Ceremonies

The San Benito Youth Baseball/Softball League held its opening ceremonies Saturday, March 12, 2011 to a crowd of hundreds of spectators and parents – all waiting to catch a glimpse of this year’s teams. According to league president Frank Garza, over 425 kids registered for the 2011 season, fielding 35-40 teams. Special guests included San Benito CISD Board President Oscar Medrano, San Benito City Commissioners Antonio “Tony” Gonzales, Rene Villafranco, and Mayor Jack Garcia who along with Channel 4 News Anchor Marcy Martinez threw the first pitch to kick off the ceremonies.
