It was reported Wednesday morning that Guadalupe Andrade, the San Benito police officer placed on indefinite suspension last June allegedly for “conduct unbecoming an officer,” has been reinstated effective today.

According to City of San Benito Human Resources Director Arturo Rodriguez, Andrade will receive $8,000 backpay while her indefinite suspension has been reduced to two days discipline without pay, this after her attorney, Francisco Zabarte of Brownsville, ended negotiations with the attorney representing the city, Rick Navarro of Denton, Navarro, Rocha & Bernal P.C.

Such action came after numerous Civil Service hearings were held on the matter; and in separate but related hearings held last fall in which Andrade was accused in a January 2010 incident of transporting a teen in her police unit – allegedly while speeding – a similar outcome was ruled upon when an arbitrator overturned a 10-day suspension that was levied upon her then, calling it “too severe.”

Rodriguez said while Andrade had a right to appear before a hearing examiner, he said she “admitted to guilt” in this case, of which he said was based on allegations that she was discourteous to a supervisor.

Attempts by the News to reach Andrade for comment were unsuccessful as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 16.

Oh great. This incompetent officer is back and probably will be back with revenge. So you all officers watch out. Snake on the loose at the SBPD! Just mess up again and MAYBE, just maybe, you will get terminated once and for all. SBPD don’t need a dishonest, discourteous and incompetent officer.
