Not much has changed in the local school board and municipal elections.
Former Rio Hondo Mayor Santiago Jim Saldana, Jr. has filed to challenge Pl. 5 incumbent Tomas Gomez on the Rio Hondo ISD School Board. Noe Alaniz is running for re-election for Pl. 1 as well as Manuel Flores, Jr. in Pl. 6 and Thomas Wiesman in Pl. 7.
Enrique Tello has filed to challenge Pl. 2 City Commissioner Gloria Barrientos in the City of Rio Hondo elections. Miguel Uresti filed for the Pl. 4 seat, which was occupied by Commissioner Joe Lopez who is now challenging Mayor Alonzo Garza.
