San Benito School Board President Oscar Medrano has announced that he will seek re-election for another term on the San Benito CISD Board of Trustees, Place 6.
Medrano was elected to the San Benito CISD Board of Trustees for a three-year term in May of 2008. Medrano had previously served on the school board from 2003 to 2005, having been elected to fill the vacancy created by the untimely death of trustee Gilbert Montalvo.
A 1990 graduate of San Benito High School, Medrano attended Southwest Texas State University, Texas State Technical College, and The University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College (Phi Theta Kappa). He completed Recreational Technology/Studies and became a certified Master of Memory & Fall Prevention Volunteer with the Texas AgriLife Extension Service and Texas A&M University System. In 2010, Medrano graduated from the Texas Association of School Board’s Leadership TASB Program becoming the first school board member from San Benito to earn the distinguished title “Master Trustee” designation, he said. He is also a graduate of the Leadership Brownsville Class XVI and recipient of the 1996 HCA Honor “Caregiver” Award.
