Grappling their way to the top with undefeated records is a group of exceptional wrestlers who have San Benito Greyhound Head Wrestling Coach Rudy Quilantan thinking big.

“They are a young group, but I think quite a bit of them will be qualifying for regionals,” said Quilantan. “We go out and run every Tuesday and Thursday. To get stronger, we lift weights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and we wrestle every day.”

Coach Quilantan is especially proud of four of his wrestlers, three whom have gone undefeated in district, and one who has only one district loss.

Allen Ray Pope is a senior who wrestles in the 103 pound weight division. In only his first year of wrestling he is undefeated in district and overall. He attributes his success to practicing and working out every day. He said that he plans on winning the district crown for his weight division competing at the state level.
