Limon discusses school board shooting

By FRANCISCO E. JIMENEZ

On Tuesday, December 14 during a regular school board meeting in Panama City, Florida, 56-year-old Clay A. Duke walked to the front of the room and spray-painted a red “V” with a circle around it before pulling out a gun and ordering everyone, with the exception of the male board members, to leave the room. The man then opened fire on the board before being shot by a security guard.

The events that transpired last week in Florida had caused locals to ask in the event that a crazed gunman mimics the events of last Tuesday, would the SBCISD school board be prepared to handle such an incident?

While the incident provides a terrifying understanding of how even the most ordinary events can take a turn for the worst, not much, if anything, can be expected to change at the regular San Benito Consolidated Independent School District board meeting, according to Superintendent Antonio G. Limon.
