San Benito will be diagnosed with a case of Saturday Night Fever Dec. 11 when its 60th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade is scheduled. The theme: 1970’s Disco.

At 6 p.m. over 100 entries will descend upon Sam Houston Boulevard, a procession that will move south toward the Expressway from Business 77, as the parade, sponsored by the San Benito Chamber of Commerce, will be headed by its grand marshal, the San Benito Food Pantry.

Zeke Padilla, Executive Director of the San Benito Chamber of Commerce, said the pantry was selected as this year’s grand marshal in recognition of the non-profit organization’s public service to the community. The San Benito Food Pantry distributes food weekly for no charge to underprivileged families on the strength of donations from the community.
