Lady ‘Hounds peak at the right time

By JOE R. BOWLING, JR.

All coaches at all sports at all levels work for their team playing at their best in the last game of the year. That’s what Head Coach Ruby Medina got when her Lady ’Hounds took the court for a final time to wrap up the volleyball season this year. Taking a talented team to the brink of elimination on the road, her ’Hounds fell to Edinburg Economedes in an intense playoff match.

The Lady ’Hounds finished the year at 21-11 overall and finished in third place in the 32-5A District with a record of 9-5. The team came together after losing a lot of punch from the previous year and steadily got better and better as the year played out.

“We had to replace six seniors,” said Medina, “and the girls all came together and worked at getting better.”
