While Ray and Mary Lou Saldaña celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on Monday, this couple has been together for 50 years, and they remember every moment along the way.
“We met in junior high,” said Mary Lou. “I was in the seventh grade and he was in the eighth grade, and we met at the water fountain. We were both taking the attendance slip to the office during sixth period.”
“She can tell you time, date, and everything,” added Ray.
The two met in junior high, but they did not start dating until high school. Until then, they would spend their time in between talking, and staring at each other.
“We just knew each other, but we didn’t really start dating until the fall of 1960,” said Mary Lou. “That’s when he asked me to the sock hop.”
