Many young people find that they outgrow the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of San Benito, but not 20-year-old Valentin Zamarripa.
Since he was nine-years-old he has been coming to the club daily. Now that he has grown up, the club still has a place for him as a staff member.
“I‘ve been working here for four years, since I turned 16 and could work,” Zamarripa said. “But I did work here during the summers before that. All my friends wanted my job.”
Everyday Zamarripa comes to the club to be an interactive supervisor over the kids there. The children enjoy taking turns playing games with him both inside and outside the club.
