Adan Cortez, Sr.

Adan CortezSAN BENITO, TX—Adan Cortez, Sr., 79, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Golden Palms Healthcare Center in Harlingen.

He was retired from the the Texas Department of Transportation and served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne; he was a devoted parishioner of St. Benedict Catholic Church; he enjoyed farming, and playing the guitar, especially with the St. Benedict Choir.

Adan is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Eva Cortez; his children, Adan (Teresa) Cortez, Jr., Gloria (Gregory Scott) Williamsen, and Daniel (Melissa (“Prine”) Cortez, Sr.; his nine grandchildren, Adan Cortez III, Adrian Cortez, Diana Cortez, Zachary Scott Williamsen, Christian Noel Williamsen, Daniel Cortez, Jr., Sidney Danielle Cortez, Megan Elizabeth Williamsen, and Hannah Eve Cortez; two great-grandchildren; his sisters, Tomasita Martin and Celia Suarez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the holy rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.

The funeral precession will depart San Benito Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito with full military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post 205 of Harlingen.
