It was a classic.

The San Benito Lady Greyhounds, coming into Tuesday night’s game against Los Fresnos undefeated in District 32-5A at 9-0, took on the Lady Falcons, a team that had much to prove after falling to the purple and gold earlier in the season. Unfortunately for the Lady ’Hounds, it was Los Fresnos that came away with a 47-44 victory.

The game, as it was anticipated to be, was a defensive battle throughout with San Benito applying pressure all night to the Lady Falcons. Still, the Lady ’Hounds saw its fair share of missed opportunities and even more missed free-throws.

“It’s our first loss in a long time, actually since December. So I mean for the kids it’s kind of devastating, for a coach the world doesn’t end. There’s another day, and that’s what I tried telling the kids after the game is that you’ve got to take this game and look forward and put away our next four games so we can come away with the district title,” said Head Girls Basketball Coach Clarisse Arredondo.
