gavelIs the canning of former San Benito CISD Risk Manager Janie Gonzalez a witch hunt, as she claims in her Level 3 grievance, or was the termination legitimate? This is what San Benito CISD Planner/Evaluator Ruben Franco, who has been tasked with making a determination on Gonzalez’s grievance, was given to 10 days decide.

Superintendent of Schools Antonio G. Limón said Gonzalez was fired in August for allegedly lying to district officials when asked if she had in her possession any documented communiqués between herself and Robert Champion Jr., a representative of the Salazar Insurance Group (SIG).

However, such communication was made public in the form of an e-mail exchange between Gonzalez, SIG and insurance consultant Glenn Hillyer when it surfaced by way of request for public information.

Limón said Gonzalez was previously questioned as to the existence of these emails or any other documented contact between Gonzalez and SIG when Oscar Medrano, board trustee, requested an investigation into the ex-risk manager’s actions in drafting a letter on school district letterhead back in May.

There was no “witch hunt” here! This lady needs to move on and the president of the board needs to be replaced. What are they waiting for?

I am sure the school district had enough to fire this women. Instead of blaming others for her faults she should accept her mistakes and move on. I think she is in it for the money. I heard the district has the best attorneys in the state. Will any action be taken on the president of the board who caused all this commotion? It would only be fair I think.

There was NO witch hunt! The REAL issue is having a reckless, ROGUE school board member not following procedure, and thinking that she has been anointed as Queen.
Reminder: school board members ARE NOT administrators, and have NO administrative duties. Are the voters THIS STUPID? Well, evidently so.

Same thing with the city commission! They have no administrative duties!

However, some members of the City Commission (mayor included) are of the opinion that they were elected to run the city, literally.
