Citizens continue to seek answers regarding whether or not the City of San Benito is targeting mobile home and RV parks with what some perceive as unwarranted water and wastewater charges.
So where’s the truth?
To live in San Benito, for the average single-family homestead with only one meter, it’s going to “cost around $48 per month” to utilize base water and wastewater services, said Utility Board Chair Pete Claudio.
Communities such as apartment complexes, mobile home parks, and multi-plex homes are examples of facilities where many individual dwellings may exist and receive water from one master meter. In cases where multiple dwellings exist and utilize the same water meter for multiple residences within a community, the city would bill the entity that is responsible to the master meter and not each individual residence.
