A man and a woman from San Benito were arrested Saturday for aggravated robbery, charges which stem from an incident in which the suspects are accused of assaulting the victim with a metal pipe.
According to Detective Rogelio Banda, Jr. of the San Benito Police Department, officers responded at 10:07 p.m. August 11 to a fight between two men at a mobile home park located on the 1600 block of W. Business 77. Upon arrival, police encountered a group of subjects standing beside a man lying on the ground in front of a residence.
The male victim had just been assaulted by another man who had fled the scene before police arrived. The victim, 23-year-old Gilbert Martinez, displayed lacerations to his face as a result of an attack with a metal pipe and was rushed to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen for treatment.
