A San Benito man was arrested on August 10 for alleged sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child.
According to San Benito Police Detective Rogelio Banda, Jr., the suspect, 29-year-old Lazaro Castro III, turned himself in to the SBPD at 7:49 a.m. Friday due to warrants out for his arrest. According to a press release, Castro was wanted on two felony warrants for aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child, charges which stem from allegations that he penetrated the minor with his finger.
The nine-year-old female victim, whose relationship to Castro will not be disclosed to protect her identity, made an outcry to her father, who immediately reported the incident to the SBPD.
