There’s just something about the stitching of a baseball in the palm of pitcher’s hand and the quiet calm just before the first pitch. Perhaps it’s the deafening silence of concentration while the batter nervously waits to make his first swing that makes the sport so riveting, compelling.

Daniel Garza, a recent graduate of San Benito High School, is no stranger to that which makes baseball an American pastime.

After playing with the University of Texas at Brownsville-Southernmost College as a red-shirt for one year, Daniel, who’s family and friends affectionately refer to as “Danny,” signed to play for Jarvis Christian College on a full scholarship Tuesday, August 7.
