A regular meeting of the San Benito City Commission originally scheduled for Tuesday was postponed to August 21 due to a lack of quorum.
Among the topics on the agenda for Tuesday’s scheduled meeting was a demolition application submitted by the Housing Authority of San Benito.
Also up for discussion was the first reading of Ordinance No. 2487, which if approved would rezone lots 16 and 17, block 1, and lot 16 of block 2 at the Gause subdivision from a single family (SF-1) zone to a commercial retail business (C-2) zone. The applicants requesting said rezoning are Enrique Garcia, Jr. and the City of San Benito.
In lieu of Tuesday’s cancelled City Commission meeting, a training session was held in which Quincy Ellis presented the 10 best practices of “Effective Board Operations.” An effort is being made to offer further education to advisory board and committee members regarding practices for maintaining effective and efficient leadership techniques.
City Manager Manuel Lara, in a guest column published in this edition, called the training session beneficial for those who attended.
