Who knew that while being treated for cancer, San Benito resident Joel Pequeño would ironically discover his career path.
Now an MD Anderson radiation therapist, Pequeño assists patients every day that are enduring what he endured several years ago.
In 2004, Pequeño visited the doctor and found that he was diagnosed with medullary thyroid cancer. “He traveled to MD Anderson in Houston and immediately underwent a 10-hour surgery and several radiation treatments,” said Claudia Giertz, an intern for the External Communications Office at MD Anderson.
