Lopez breaks school track and field records

Brenda Lopez ain’t just good, she’s great.

The junior track and field athlete from San Benito High School now holds a couple of campus records after competing at the UIL state championships meet in Austin on Saturday.

Lopez broke the two mile record held by Maria Hernandez and the mile record held by Jessica Garcia.

Brenda, who is now ranked the 10th fastest female in the state placed fifth in both the mile and two mile events. Her time was 5:05.93 in the mile, surpassing Maria’s time of 5:14, and her time of 10:53.18 in the two mile defeated Jessica’s time of 11:45.

  1. I just wanted to say as a former runner, and also knowing the girl who’s record you broke! you are doing AWESOME! She was good, and you beating that time by that much is just great!
    Keep it up, and dnt let a guy or problems take you away from what God has made you to be! A very talented RUNNER!
