Despite their game one victory against Laredo Alexander, the San Benito Greyhounds failed to close out the series on top.
The Greyhounds fell to Laredo Alexander in game two, 12-0. Game three was much more exciting as they took the lead early on in the game 2-0 as Adan Guzman and Homar Longoria contributed RBI’s.
Laredo answered back with three runs in the first and two more in the third bringing the score to 5-2 in the third inning. LJ Garcia’s three run double brought the Greyhounds up to five runs, but Laredo Alexander would not be outdone scoring two more runs in the fifth, bringing the score to 8-5.
Josh Huerta was brought in to relieve the ’Hounds while he struck out four and allowed two hits.
The ’Hounds were not able to score again offensively, ending their dreams of moving on to the next round with a final score of 8-6.
San Benito’s Cinderella season was one to remember, having reached the playoffs for the first time in nine years and moving on to the area round. The ’Hounds fought themselves to the top to be able to make the playoffs after starting the season out on the bottom.

Wow!! A short lived moment of accomplishment. And now, the coach who managed to hold a group of kids together and obtain results not common to this program finds himself in search of a job. Way to go San Benito, you have failed someone who brought you success. I wonder why the head football coach is not held to the same standards. After all, a one high school town with all the talent? A football coaches dream. Or nightmare if in San Benito.
This team was very talented, it was not the coach. Thet succeded inpite of the coach. These players had been very successful in Pony play.
