Sounds of cheers and laughter came from both ends of the dugout during Monday night’s championship tee-ball game at Stookey Park.
But before a winner was named, the Grey Texas Rangers and Purple Thunder, the 5 and 6-year-old finalist squads, gathered on the field to hold hands in a show of sportsmanship, this before preparing for their tie-breaking game.
The teams were 1-1 against each other, and this final game decided the new champs.

I wish to thank the San Benito News for their recent coverage of the San Benito Youth Baseball/Softball Association’s baseball and softball teams. All of the games are exciting, and our youth is learning the meaning of teamwork and hard work. The excitement and celebrations are unbelieveable. Make an effort to attend a game . . . you won’t be disappointed!
