In efforts to support the preservation of the old library, the Narciso Martinez Cultural Arts Center will host an event entitled “ConJUNTOS” on Saturday.
The event, slated from 6-9 p.m. at the center, located on 225 E. Stenger St. will feature past art presenters and other community artists, including Xavier Garza, Luis Valderas, Jesus De La Rosa, Veronica Jaeger, Jerry Lyles, and more.
There will be a 30-45 minute open mic for readers and performers.
According to organizers, the event was inspired after it was recently learned that plans may be in store to tear down and replace the building with a cultural heritage center for the arts, a project which has long been in the works and will be designed to accommodate the city’s three museums.

A diversion from the real issues of a broken city government run by vagabonds and thieves.
