Moreno nabbed for robberies in Harlingen

A San Benito man remains in police custody after he was arrested Saturday on robbery charges stemming from Harlingen businesses.

According to reports, the accused was identified as 21-year-old Ivan Joseph Moreno, who was arrested for robberies in connection with incidences at a Harlingen Starbucks and Walmart.

Moreno was seen at the 1500 block of North Ed Carey Drive allegedly attempting to rob Starbucks customers. Moreno has also been accused of theft on the 1800 block of West Lincoln Street at the Harlingen Walmart. In the latter case, Moreno is specifically accused of demanded money from a woman at knifepoint; she was pumping gas at the time, according to reports. Authorities said the female victim gave him an estimated $390 and did not sustain injuries from the incident.
