Deadline for city attorney qualifications nears

By FRANCISCO E. JIMENEZ

city logoThe deadline for city attorney applicants to submit their qualifications to the City of San Benito is Friday, Dec. 31, said City Secretary Lupita Passement.

Passement stated that she only knew of one firm that submitted qualifications thus far but did not know which.

The city advertised in the Nov. 21 edition of the News a request for qualifications (RFQs) for city attorney services. The city is seeking a firm with a minimum of five years of municipal government and civil service experience.

The action came after Place 2 City Commissioner Rene Villafranco made the initial motion. Villafranco, Mayor Jack Garcia and Tony Gonzales voted in favor in the measure while Mayor Pro-Term Bill Elliott and Commissioner Celeste Z. Sanchez voted against it.
