Mayor to tweet city information

Mayor Jack Garcia has embraced a new era of technological and social outlets for the city by activating a Twitter account.

“It’s partly city, and partly for some of my friends that encouraged me, my family, and my love for cycling and so forth,” Garcia said.

Twitter is a real-time information network which allows people to connect to the latest information for which they find interesting. A “tweet” is a statement consisting of 140 or less characters used to share information for followers to read.

The mayor plans on using his Twitter account as a way to keep in touch with his friends and relatives and keep them updated on what he is doing, but he also plans on using the social network as an interactive outlet for his constituents.
