Two candidates confirmed for school board forum

SBN forumAs of presstime Tuesday, two candidates running in the San Benito CISD School Board election have confirmed their attendance to the San Benito News “Meet the Candidates” Community Forum, scheduled for Thursday, April 28.

School Board President and Place 6 incumbent Oscar Medrano will be attending the forum as well as Pl. 4 challenger June Aguilera. Pl. 4 incumbent Joe G. Gonzalez, Pl. 6 challenger Fatima Huerta, and Pl. 7 incumbent Manuel “Meme” Gonzales and challenger Julian Huerta are not expected to attend. Gonzalez has cited prior commitments as cause while Gonzales did not. Meanwhile, repeated calls to the Huertas have not been returned.

As previously reported, the event will be held in conjunction with the San Benito Friends of the Library and remains scheduled for 6:30 p.m. inside the San Benito CISD John F. Barron Administration Building Board Room, located on 240 N. Crockett St. Serving as moderator will be San Benito News Managing Editor Michael Rodriguez.

The San Benito News forum will focus primarily on the San Benito CISD School Board elections, in which questions will focus on general and specific issues pertaining to education, such as spending, student and teacher performance as well as matters pertaining to budgeting. Some of the questions were taken from comments made by the public on www.sbnewspaper.com.
