Candidates running in the City of San Benito election will have the opportunity to address a number of issues at a community voter forum scheduled Wednesday, April 27.
The 2011 San Benito City Commission Election Forum, billed as a nonpartisan event presented as a community service by KGBT-TV Channel 4 News, KMBH – Public Radio, the San Benito News, and the South Texas Adult Resource and Training (START) Center is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. inside the San Benito Community Building, located at 210 E. Heywood in San Benito.
As previously reported, the public is invited to attend the forum, in which candidates who have confirmed their attendance include Mayor Jack Garcia, Place 1 City Commissioner challengers Joe F. Rodriguez and Roel Villarreal, and Pl. 2 City Commissioner candidate Gavino Sotelo. According to Joe Medrano of the START Center, only mayoral candidate Joe H. Hernandez and Pl. 2 incumbent Rene Villafranco have declined invitations to attend. Organizers were uncertain as of presstime if Pl. 1 incumbent Tony Gonzales was planning to attend.
Moderating the forum will be Daisy Martinez of KGBT-TV Channel 4.
