Eugenia Olmeda Moreno, 81, entered to rest on Wednesday, April 20, 2011.
She was born on August 15, 1929 to Guadalupe and Lucrecia Olmeda in Lantana, TX.
She enjoyed playing bingo and chalupa and had a passion for dancing. Everybody knew who she was because she always wore a rose in her hair, La Del Moño Colorado.
She is preceded in death by her husband Juan T. Moreno and son Marcelino Moreno.
She is survived by her children Paula Moreno and Manuela Moreno Alvarez of San Benito, Pedro Moreno of Rio Hondo; Juan Moreno, Jr. of Pasadena, and Eugenio Moreno of Ava, Missouri. She is also survived by five sisters; Pancha Garcia, Dominga Serrano, Severa Cornejo, Alicia Barboza, and Martina Gonzales; one brother Guadalupe Olmeda; and 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 22, 2011 from 10-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito.
A Chapel service will be held Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the North Chapel of Thomae-Garza. Interment will follow at San Vicente Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Juan Jr., Eugenio, Pedro, Peter, Danny, and Angel.
Honorary pallbearers are Leo, Robert, Jerry, Braulio, Israel, and Peter Ponce.
