SBN’s ‘Meet the Candidates’ forum moved to April 28

ElectionsDue to scheduling conflicts, the San Benito News “Meet the Candidates” community forum for San Benito CISD candidates has been moved from Thursday, April 21 to Thursday, April 28.

The event will be held in conjunction with the San Benito Friends of the Library and remains scheduled for 6:30 p.m. inside the San Benito CISD John F. Barron Administration Building Board Room, located on 240 N. Crockett St. Serving as moderator will be San Benito News Managing Editor Michael Rodriguez.

The San Benito forum will be specific to the San Benito CISD School Board elections, in which candidates running include Pl. 4 incumbent Joe G. Gonzalez vs. June Aguilera, Pl. 6 incumbent Oscar Medrano vs. Fatima Huerta, and Pl. 7 incumbent Manuel “Meme” Gonzales vs. Julian Huerta. Pl. 5 incumbent Hector G. Leal is running unopposed.

Medrano and Aguilera have thus far confirmed their attendance for the April 28 event. Questions will focus on general and specific issues pertaining to education, such as spending, student and teacher performance as well as matters pertaining to budgeting.
