With speculation and rumors regarding former Superintendent Dr. Marc A Puig’s resignation dominating most discussions in San Benito, the former SBCISD head is finally breaking the silence in an exclusive interview he gave to the NEWS. Many in the community cited an apparent rift between Dr. Puig and some of the school board members, rumors Dr. Puig shot down. “Being a superintendent of schools requires a singular focus… When certain family events happen, that focus changes,” said Dr. Puig.

Yes,I did read the article. Have you attended any board meetings and worked on getting informed about the truth? You would be shocked as I have been as to what actually goes on and what certain board members vote on.
If you are only relying on what you read, you are not getting the whole story.
I remember resigning from a company after two months with no job lined up because I felt it simply wasn’t working out. My manager was completely blindsided. He could not understand why I was resigning after such a short period especially with opportunities to do some great things in the near future. He discussed the positives with me while still being understanding of my concerns. He talked me out of it. I ended up working for that company for over four years. Some of my best friends (I was in their weddings) I keep in regular contact with and visit not just across the state but across the country as well I met at this company; we even travel together. I grew professionally and can honestly say I made the company better. If that manager had not gone out of his way to talk me out of it because he realized my potential and the opportunities available there, my life would be very different today. I’m thinking of that manager today and find myself comparing him to the people on this school board. It’s no wonder Dr. Puig wanted to leave and no honest attempt to keep him was made. These people don’t have a clue.
Thank you, Dr. Puig. You tried, and a lot of us appreciate what you did but we understand.
Well said.
I understand that it is difficult to accept the resignation of Mr. Puig but it appears more personal than political. I really don’t believe that the SBCISD board had anything to do with it. Mr. Puig did what was asked of him and he did that. The way I see it, he cleaned up the Yliana Gonzalez mess that she made while President with her puppet followers. Remember, Yliana Gonzalez with her puppets paid for two superintendents for over a year. The same micro manager who had her relatives and family hired so they could get a check. The same over-controlling person that made sure one board member made money taking pictures and then that guy Jesse selling shirts and tablets etc…..
Yliana Gonzalez really showed her ignorance and lack of common sense when she chastised the present school board and blaming them for Mr. Puig’s departure. Yliana Gonzalez can’t accept blame and responsibility for the budget being inflated and having to hire someone to put them in the black.
To Yliana Gonzalez, you lost your re-election for being a micro-manager who intimidated and threatened fellow board members and citizens WHO remembered that and thus voted for the other guy.
Did you read the article??
The San Benito school board members with the exception of Mr. Hector Leal should be ashamed of themselves. We have lost a great superintendent because San Benito is unable to put what is best for our community and children before personal political agendas.
