At a special meeting of the San Benito City Commission on Monday, Feb. 2, officials voted in favor of adopting a plan that will mean the immediate beautification of the City’s downtown area, beginning near San Benito’s Municipal Building.
Over the next few months, local business owners will be approached by the City in an effort to team up and, among other details, beautify the business storefronts.
San Benito Mayor Celeste Z. Sanchez has been leading the discussion on this beautification process. “Let’s designate one or two blocks and get started,” she said. “We’ll make mistakes, yes, but we’ll learn. Then we’ll add two or three more blocks. If we don’t get started, it’s never going to get done.”
