The San Benito Public Library has launched its Mobile Library, bringing library services directly to neighborhoods throughout the city.
The Mobile Library is designed to serve residents who are not always be able to visit the library in person by delivering books, educational resources, and library services to community spaces throughout the city of San Benito.
“The Mobile Library allows us to meet residents where they are and remove barriers to access,” said Augustin Carrera, the City of San Benito Library Director. “Our goal is to ensure every family in San Benito has the opportunity to read, learn, and stay connected to library services, regardless of transportation or scheduling limitations.”
The initiative supports literacy and lifelong learning by expanding access to reading materials and library programs for residents of all ages. By bringing books and literacy activities closer to home, the Mobile Library supports early childhood literacy, encourages family reading, and strengthens reading habits that contribute to academic success, according to a City press release.
Mobile Library services include: book checkout and returns, children’s and adult reading materials, library card registration, access to library programs and literacy activities, and information on digital resources and community services.
“Early exposure to reading and learning opportunities plays a critical role in lifelong success,” Carrera said. “The Mobile Library helps us reach children and families more consistently and fosters strong reading habits from an early age. Today, libraries go beyond physical buildings.”
The Mobile Library will operate on a rotating monthly schedule at designated locations throughout San Benito.
For more information or to view the full Mobile Library schedule, residents may contact the San Benito Public Library at (956) 361-3860 or visit the City of San Benito’s website and social media pages.
