BROWNSVILLE, TX—Texas Southmost College (TSC), in collaboration with San Benito’s Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame & Museum, is officially kicking off its yearlong centennial celebration with a Conjunto Festival on Saturday, January 17, 2026, inviting the community to gather on TSC’s historic campus for a full day of music, culture, and celebration.
The festival is free and open to the public, and marks the first of many events celebrating TSC’s 100-year legacy as a cornerstone of educational opportunities in the Rio Grande Valley.
The festival will showcase emerging student talent and celebrated performers, underscoring the college’s longstanding commitment to education and community engagement.
By centering the kickoff celebration on Conjunto music, a genre deeply rooted in South Texas’ history and cultural identity, Texas Southmost College honors the traditions and communities it has proudly served for a century, according to a TSTC press release.
The event also features a special appearance by Grammy Award-winning Tejano artist Sunny Sauceda as part of the headlining act.

As the day’s festivities unfold, from student-centered competitions to an evening of high-energy performances, the Conjunto Festival celebrates musical heritage and marks a symbolic opening to TSC’s centennial year.
According to TSC’s press release, the college has played a vital role in expanding access to affordable education for its students for nearly 100 years while remaining deeply rooted in the cultural fabric of the Rio Grande Valley.
