SWAT assists in bust

On January 8, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the San Benito Police Department (SBPD) SWAT team, with assistance from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, executed a narcotics search warrant in the 700 Block of North Sam Houston Street in San Benito.

According to the SBPD, during the execution of the warrant, a male subject, identified as Victor Hernandez Jr., was placed under arrest for his alleged involvement in the sale of narcotics from the San Benito residence.

According to an SBPD report, investigators seized the following from the home: 480 grams of cocaine, 30 grams of clonazepam, and 0.2 ounces of marijuana.

Hernandez was charged with Manufacturing and Delivering a Controlled Substance (cocaine), a First-Degree Felony; Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 3 (Clonazepam), a Third-Degree Felony; and Possession of Marijuana less than two ounces, a Class “B” Misdemeanor.

Hernandez was arraigned on his charges and received the following bond amounts: $100,000 for Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance (cocaine), $75,000 for Possession of Controlled Substance, PG3 (Clonazepam), and $20,000 for Possession of Marijuana.

“The SBPD is committed to the safety and well-being of our community. All individuals are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
