On Wednesday, November 19, 2025, the community of San Benito will gather at San Benito High School from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. for an exciting and impactful event — the CCMR Expo, a free evening dedicated to helping students and families explore opportunities in College, Career, and Military Readiness.

The event is being led by Nancy Casas, Director of CCMR for San Benito CISD, who is also helping guide the planning process and ensure smooth execution behind the scenes, in close partnership with the ACE (Afterschool Centers on Education) Program, directed by Celia Banuelos, and Sarahi Catache, a Family Engagement Specialist with ACE. Jessica Guerra, Assistant Director for the After School Program, is also helping behind the scenes.

The collaboration includes the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department, PVAMU Extension/4-H Youth Development, and Juntos, reflecting a strong network of community partnerships.

“We are proud to host this event for the second consecutive year, continuing a meaningful collaboration between Juntos and Prairie View A&M University, our CTE Department, the CCMR Center, and our After School Program,” said Casas.

“The  CCMR  Expo  provides  our  Greyhounds  with  valuable  opportunities  to  explore  their  future pathways. Students will be able to connect with college representatives and military recruiters, learn about various career pathways and industry-based certifications, and participate in hands-on sessions and resource discussions. In addition, senior parents will have the opportunity to receive assistance completing FAFSA applications to help prepare their students for postsecondary success,” she added.

The CCMR Expo is part of the district’s broader efforts to support students “beyond the bell” — after school hours — and to engage families in meaningful ways. This is where the ACE program steps in.

“Students and families can expect to gain a deeper understanding of the many college, career, and military opportunities available within our district and community,” said Catache. “Our own district offers a variety of programs from elementary through high school that students can benefit from, and knowing what’s out there is essential to exposing them early to these opportunities.”

She emphasized the wide range of career and technical programs available: “For example, students can explore careers and programs in welding, construction, culinary arts, technology, teaching, the arts, healthcare, health science, law enforcement, robotics, business management, agriculture, and digital media,” Catache shared.

“The event provides a hands-on, interactive experience where students can connect with local programs, colleges, and industry partners, helping them discover potential career interests and future goals. Families will also receive valuable resources and guidance, and there will be lots of giveaways and free resources to support their children’s educational and career pathways —making this a truly informative and inspiring experience for all ages.”

The CCMR EXPO is proud to support events like these that directly serve our students and families. Working to ensure this isn’t just an informational event, but an experience that empowers everyone who walks through the doors.

“This event is a districtwide partnership that brings together our CCMR, CTE, and After-School Program departments,  along  with  colleges,  law  enforcement,  military  agencies,  and  local  businesses,”  added Guerra. “By working together, we’re helping students see the connection between what they’re learning now and the careers they can pursue in the future.”

When asked who makes an event like this possible, Casas pointed to a wide web of support. “We are grateful for the teamwork between CCMR Center, ACE, CTE, and Juntos/Prairie View A&M. It’s truly a district and community effort,” she shared. If there are any additional partners, she encourages those involved to contact her directly at (956) 361-6132.

While the CCMR Expo has been held before, each year brings new growth and fresh ideas. This event has continued to evolve thanks to the commitment of the CCMR Director, Casas, the partnerships, and the feedback from participating families. It’s not just about showcasing options — it’s about creating opportunity.

With so many departments coming together and an open invitation to the entire San Benito community, this year’s CCMR Expo promises to be more than just an event — it’s a launch pad for futures.
