The man suspected in a kidnapping and vehicle theft which occurred last week in San Benito is now facing felony counts upon his apprehension hours after the incident.
As published in last week’s edition of the San Benito News, a woman reported to be disabled was reunited with her family after enduring a harrowing ordeal last Wednesday afternoon.
According to the San Benito Police Department (SBPD), the woman’s ordeal began at approximately 3:30 p.m., last Wednesday afternoon when a black in color, 2019 Jeep Renegade was allegedly stolen from the Circle K convenience store located on the corner of FM 509 and North Frontage road in San Benito.
The disabled female was located safe and unharmed at 4:40 p.m. the same day, San Benito police said. She was reunited with her family soon after. Police did not provide more details regarding her recovery nor was her name made public.
A male subject caught on video surveillance was a person of interest in the incident and was apprehended at approximately 5:08 p.m. last Wednesday. The stolen vehicle was also recovered.
A 39-year-old disabled female was in the back seat of the vehicle when the offense was committed, read a SBPD report. Police searched for the vehicle, and the subject in the photo.
