The South Texas ISD Board of Directors recently approved its 2023-2024 Employee Compensation Plan and Benefits during the board’s regular meeting in late June.
The South Texas Independent School District (STISD), which has a San Benito campus, Board of Directors approved the following compensation plan and benefits for the 2023-2024 school year:
• A three percent pay increase from the midpoint of the employee’s pay scale for all eligible STISD employees
• A 1.5 percent pay increase from the midpoint of the employee’s pay scale for all employees who are maxed out
• A $162.50 increase in the health insurance allotment, covering the TRS increase in the employee portion in the district’s most-selected plan and bringing the total paid by the district per each employee to $777.14/employee/month
• Continuing 100 percent employee coverage in dental insurance, with the district contributing $20.76/employee/month
The increased pay and benefits will go into effect in September.
During the previous month’s board meeting, the Board also approved a $1,200 retention stipend for all employees employed by the district during the 2022-2023 school year who return to the district for the 2023-2024 school year. This stipend will be received by each returning employee in one payment the first week of August.
Earlier, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez appointed and administered the oath of office to two new members of South Texas ISD Board of Directors.
