Museum to feature SA artist

Special to the NEWS

The San Benito Cultural Arts Department is bringing the colorful works of San Antonio artist, Danville Chadbourne, to the San Benito Cultural Heritage Museum (SBCHM).

This exhibition celebrates the connection to nature and explores how the artist transforms organic materials, found objects, and woodwork into poetic and mesmerizing works of art.

“Recent Works” is a dynamic and multifaceted exhibition that pushes and pulls; presenting multiple aspects at once. The sculptures and wall pieces demonstrate the connection with nature while inviting the viewer to look inward. Initially, Danville’s work is intriguing, light-hearted, and even fun. Yet upon further observation, the work is philosophical, anthropological, and for some, shamanic. The pieces included in “Recent Works” resonate with balance, growth, and fluidity — all qualities found in nature.

“One of our continued missions for the San Benito Cultural Arts Department is to create a collaborative environment that promotes, encourages, and shares the narratives of our region.

Danville Chadbourne’s work adds to the conversation and inspires us to be more curious and observant of the natural world around us — perhaps it will reveal aspects of ourselves”, explains San Benito Cultural Arts Director, Aleida Garcia.
The opening reception for “Recent Works” is Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at the San Benito Cultural Heritage Museum. The exhibit will run through July 28, 2023.
