Eight inducted into hall

The Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame, located within the iconic Aztec building on Robertson St. in San Benito, Induction Selection Committee recently announced eight distinguished Conjunto artists who will be inducted into the hall of fame during a ceremony and dance slated for this summer.

The Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame & Museum (TCMHFM) President Patricia Avila said the inductees, “have captured the essences of the regional conjunto music genre through their utmost dedication and contribution to the music, songwriting, and art, and what will be their legacy which will live on for decades.”

This year’s inductees are:
– Reynaldo Avila, Sr. – Founder of TCMHFM
– Jaime DeAnda – Accordionist/Vocal
– Adan de la Rosa, Sr. – Bajo Sexto
– Roel Florez – Songwriter/Artist
– Baldemar Huerta (AKA Freddy Fender) – Vocals
– Cornelia Reyna – Bajo Sexto
– Tony Vasquez – Accordionist
– Martin Velasquez – Bajo Sexto

Six inductees are being honored in the music industry and two for their contribution to the Conjunto industry.

“We are extremely excited to be able to bring back the Texas Conjunto Hall of Fame Awards; with new location of the museum, a new logo, it felt just right to honor all the contributions the pioneers and legends have done for the Conjunto community,” said Avila.

    It’s wonderful to see these distinguished Conjunto artists recognized for their dedication and contributions to the music genre.
