Deputies arrest father, son after assault

On Thursday, April 27, 2023, Eduardo Pena turned himself into U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agents at a Brownsville International Port of Entry after an arrest warrant for Aggravated Assault W/Deadly Weapon was issued following an alleged stabbing on Encantada Cir. in the outskirts of San Benito.

According to a statement by the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), accompanying Eduardo Pena was his father, Enrique Pena who was also arrested and charged with Hindering Apprehension/Prosecution.

Investigators were able to secure an arrest warrant for Enrique Pena after it was discovered the father had hindered his apprehension, according to the CCSO.

Sheriff Deputies transported Enrique and Eduardo Pena to the Carrizales –Rucker Detention Center for processing, the statement reads.

The alleged assault occurred on April 23, 2023, at about 2:18 a.m. It was at that date and time when CCSO Patrol Deputies responded to Encantada Cir. outside of San Benito in reference to a male subject with stab wounds. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a female who said her husband, Carlos Gonzales, had been stabbed.

Deputies located the victim inside a restroom of the home sitting on a toilet bleeding, with injuries to his face and back. Deputies requested Emergency Medical Services and the victim was transported to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, the sheriff’s office statement read.
