On March 6, 2023, Cameron County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Jason Lee Iracheta who was involved in a vehicular pursuit.
According to a statement by the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). On February 26, 2023, Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies, alongside the Rancho Viejo Police Department, Brownsville Police Department and Cameron County Precinct 4 Constables, conducted an operation, in reference to street racing in the San Benito area. While conducting the operation, a deputy engaged in a pursuit with a Buick Le Sabre passenger vehicle.
Prior to engaging in the pursuit, the deputy was travelling southbound on Frontage Rd., approaching Runnels Rd., and he observed several vehicles exit the expressway at a high rate of speed. As the vehicles exited towards Frontage Rd., a deputy constable was parked in his marked unit and the driver of a Buick Le Sabre drove around the unit in an aggressive manner, according to the statement.
At that time, the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver of the Buick refused to stop and a pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle entered the onramp onto the Expressway, reaching speeds of up to 80 mph. Due to the potential threat to the community, the deputy disengaged to avoid any a collision.
Investigators were able to identify Jason Lee Iracheta as the driver of the Buick.
