The Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame and Museum has slated its grand opening for Feb. 18 at 3:30 p.m., in conjunction with Market Days, on historic Robertson Street.

The Hall’s new home is now the iconic Aztec Building on 402 W. Robertson St., adjacent to the Resaca. The grand opening will begin with the ribbon cutting, featuring the San Benito Chamber of Commerce.

Afterward, visitors will be able to tour the indoor museum that will feature never before seen artifacts and displays that mimic the original studio of Ideal Records, as well as conjunto legend Narciso Martinez’s front porch.

From 4-4:30 p.m., there will be a presentation featuring speakers from the Texas Hall of Fame as well as from the San Benito Historical Society, who will detail the history of the Aztec Building. Two San Benito commissioners will also be presenting.

Rick Garcia, president of CHR Records, will be the MC for the day, and other musical performances are to be expected once confirmed.

Organization president Patricia Avila said she and her team have unearthed artifacts of her father, Rey Avila, that were not previously featured in the former conjunto museum.
