On January 5, 2023, Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Villafranco Rd. in San Benito, in reference to a burglary in progress.
Prior to their arrival, deputies were advised by Cameron Dispatch that the homeowner had a suspect pinned down to the ground.
According to a Cameron County Sherriff’s Office (CCSO) statement, upon arrival, the deputies immediately detained the male suspect who was identified as Elias Garcia.
The homeowner reported that when he arrived home, he observed two males running out of the residence with a drill, tool belt and a meat grinder.
According to the CCSO statement, the homeowner was able to detain Garcia, while the other suspect fled the scene.
