According to a statement by the City of San Benito and the San Benito Police Department (SBPD), at approximately 10:18 a.m. last Thursday, SBPD officers responded to the 400 block of Juarez St. in San Benito in reference to an individual in a grey passenger car firing a gun in the alleyway.
According to the statement, while officers were responding to the scene, they witnessed two male subjects running from the general area of the shots fired call.
Officers pursued the males as they were believed to have been involved with the shooting incident.
The statement went on to read that during the investigation, a male subject who remained at the scene was detained and identified as 30-year-old Luis Vivar, a San Benito resident.
During the course of the investigation, officers discovered two bullet holes in the grey passenger car. There were no signs that anyone sustained any injuries and a weapon was not located at the scene.
Officers continued searching the area for the two individuals that fled on foot, but they were not located. As a precaution, San Benito CISD Police Department was informed of the ongoing situation due to Fred Booth Elementary Schools proximity to the incident location.
