Residents receive fully reconstructed home

Dalia and Miguel Rodriguez of San Benito received a fully reconstructed home through GLO’s HARP.

Due to a storm, flood waters came up through the floor and caused so much damage, their home was unstable.

“These keys (to their home) can actually be made of gold because this is the most beautiful thing that we’ve gotten ever in our lives, and it is a blessing, said Dalia. “It has given us an opportunity to start new. It is the best gift anyone could ever get.”

On Thursday, Nov. 17, the Texas General Land Office (GLO) team was in the Rio Grande Valley to reopen applications for the Homeowner Assistance and Reimbursement Programs (HARP) for residents of Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy counties. The program currently has funds remaining to help additional applicants.

Homeowners are encouraged to apply if their homes were damaged by storm disasters in 2018 and/or 2019. HARP provides home repairs or full reconstruction of damaged homes, as well as repayment of eligible out-of-pocket repair costs up to $50,000.

Interested homeowners should visit recovery.texas.gov/harp to apply online or download a printable version of the application.
