After suffering their first loss of the season at the Battle of the Arroyo, the San Benito Greyhound Varsity Football Team reminded everyone just how overpowering they are when clicking on all cylinders.

The Greyhounds got back to their winning ways with a dominant 36-7 shellacking of the 6-2 Los Fresnos Falcons, which wasn’t even as close as the lopsided final score indicates. Prior to the loss, the Falcons had won five of their last six games and were tied for second place in District 32-6A.

San Benito got off to a slow start, falling behind 7-0 at the start of the first quarter, but the Greyhound offense, more specifically superstar running back Fabian Garcia, was on a mission to prove any doubters wrong. Despite being locked in a 7-7 tie at the end of the opening quarter, the Greyhounds had momentum building fast, after a slow start.

San Benito effectively put the game away in the second quarter with two quick touchdowns that gave them a controlling 21-7 lead at the halftime break. The Greyhounds added a touchdown in each of the final two quarters to collect their third district win in four tries.

While the offense caught fire later in the game, the Greyhound defense was just as suffocating as ever. After their initial 70-yard touchdown drive, the Falcons were held to just over 100 total yards for the rest of the game with linebackers Mariano Garcia and Devon Robinson leading the way with a combined 23 tackles, two sacks and five tackles for loss.
