On Saturday, August 9, Wild Z Fitness Studio in San Benito will host its inaugural “Fill the Bus” Zumbathon to collect school supplies and monetary donations for needy children within the San Benito Consolidated Independent School District.

Studio owner and Assistant Coach at Angela Leal Elementary, Jennifer Villafranca, said, “Everything collected that day will get sent to the San Benito school district’s Parental Involvement department. That’s where all these school supplies will go to.”

To participate in the event, one may choose to donate $5 in cash or bring $5 worth of school supplies on the day of the event. Among items being sought are: “Backpacks, paper, pencils, pens, binders and more,” said Villafranca. “People can even bring (school) uniforms if they want to.”

“This is (the event’s) first year. But I like to (give back) as much as I can. I would like it to be an annual thing. If it comes out successful, for sure we’ll have it next year,” said Villafranca.

In September, Wild Z studio will celebrate its second year of operation. Villafranca explained, “We do a lot of benefits, usually dance fitness. I usually give back to the community; it’s a lot of fun. We usually do community events, whether it be (to help) someone sick with medical expenses…and this time we’re (collecting) back to school donations.”

Wild Z Fitness Studio offers “a variety of things under one roof,” said Villafranca. Some of the studio’s classes include: Zumba fitness; RIO (Real Intense Outcome); BOKWA; regular fitness and toning; and Vegas Stiletto Fitness.

Fill the Bus Zumbathon begins at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 9, and will be held at their San Benito studio, located at 1145 Ross St. Suite I. All donations are welcome, whether or not the person wishes to participate in the actual event. For more information, call Villafranca at (956) 241-7914.
