GRANBURY, TX—On April 18, 2014, Good Friday, Major Gerald Lee Graver, Sr, (Jerry) 75, was called home after a long battle with cancer.

Jerry was born in San Benito, Texas on April 13, 1939.

He served his country proudly in the US Army as a DASPO Combat Photographer in the Vietnam War. After his military service, he earned his masters degree at Texas A&M University and later became a loved teacher to many during his years in Panama. When he retired from teaching in 1987, he and his wife, Jane, moved to Goliad, and resided there until 2001. During those years they were both very active working with the children of Goliad. They then moved to Granbury, TX where he continued working with the youth at the church. Although he no longer walks among us, his spirit will forever reside in the hearts and lives of those he touched.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Jean Graver, brother George and sister, Betty Huseman.

He is loved and will be missed by his surviving wife of 53 years Jane Graver, daughter Shelly Jane March, son Gerald Lee Graver Jr., grandson Tyler Graver, sisters Marjorie Dunn of Bedford, TX and Elaine Moon of Goliad, TX, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jerry faced his pain with courage until the very end. He tried so hard to stay with us but it was a fight he could not win. God wrapped him in his loving arms and whispered, “come with me”; God took him to His loving home and there He set him free.

To celebrate his life, May 9, 2014 at 10 a.m., we will honor his service in the U.S. Army at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX.
Lunch will be served by the members of First Christian Church at 12 p.m., followed by A Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. to be held at the First Christian Church, 2109 Hwy. 377 W., Granbury, TX.

In lieu of flowers please send donations: In Honor of Jerry Graver to First Christian Church Scholarship Youth Mission Fund, 2109 Hwy. 377 W., Granbury, TX 76049; 817-573-5431
